About this Item

Fully ill. colored bds., with a delightful front & spine showing pixies sitting on vines & flying on the backs of Pterodactyl's with lovely white scarves floating in the breeze. The rear bd. is in color as well & shows a wall with the saying "There is Pansies that's for thoughts" with a bunch of pansies & an angel. No date is on the copyright page, however, on the btm. rear bd. it states "Copyright 1882 by J. L. Blamire". 184 illustrations by Gilbert all done in black & white. Both the front & rear inner & outer hinges are exposed and previous owner decided to tape the front & rear bds. to the spine. The head & foot of the spine is missing 2/16" of paper & decoration & where the outer hinges have cracked there is some decorative paper missing as well. The front bd. has 2 additional chips to the paper covering , 1 at the btm. corner & 1 in the middle. There is a gift inscription dated 1893 to the fep in ink, both the fep & rep is tanned, although the rest of the pages are remarkably bright & clean. A bookbinder would be able to strengthen this book & save the spine & it will still be a beautiful and collectible book for years to come. The price on the book is greatly deflated since a bookbinder will cost approx. 50-100 (MAX) to strengthen this book. (MM) THIS BOOK MUST BE SENT VIA PRIORITY INSURED MAIL.
