300 (12) pp, b&w tissue protected frontis, dedicatory, preliminary, Letters I-24; Later from Tangletown; The Great Mammothic Reform Convention; Tangletown at the Latest Advices. [Wright, II, 2020] First Edition, 1856. This curious epistolary novel whose letters are attributed to one Temotheus Trap, Esq., the editor/author of which is only identified by a previous work is E. W. (Elhanan Winchester) Reynolds. The letters themselves take a satirical look at contemporary social issues and fashions of the day, including slavery, the Church's attitude towards it, feminism, spiritualism and, literally, the conventions of the day. Rubbed bottom spine and fore-edge corners with Moderate foxing throughout. Binding is tight and strong binding with no underlining, highlighting or marginalia. Brown blind-stamped decorative boards with gilt-stamped lettering in decorative frame to spine. Size: 8vo. Bookseller Inventory # 003750
