Illustrations by Carroll Bill. 8vo. Tan cloth with brown lettering and green decorations. 319pp. Frontispiece, illustrations. Near fine. Lacks jacket, else a tight and attractive early printing of this 1935 chronicle by an English widow (born 1865) who in 1907 moved to a village south of Mexico City with her daughter and purchased the Bella Vista Hotel; she fled during the Revolution, returning to find her hotel destroyed, but remained in Mexico. This copy inscribed by her large and bold in blue ink on half-title page: "A pleasure to sign for / Mrs. C.M. Peaslee / Sincerely yours / Rosa E. King. / March 30/38." (Peaslee, who signs the front flyleaf, was wife of a prominent Dubuque, Iowa family.) Uncommon signed. Bookseller Inventory # 38533
