Octavo. 198pp. Text. Illustrated by Tom Lea, with an introduction by J. Frank Dobie and typography by Carl Hertzog. Siringo first book published in 1885 was so popular it was reprint over ad over, more than a million copy of its various editions. The present copy is a reissue of that first edition which had demands for it in evey section of the country. Bound in brown cloth lettered in gilt, spine lettring gilt. First printing.. 176 pages, 30 small illustrations in text by Tom Lea, inside front cover shows the lithograph frontispiece of the original M. Umbdenstock and co. first edition (first published in 1885) which is not in the second edition, inside back cover shows the second frontispiece of the first edition and only frontispiece of the second edition, facsimile title and fly pages of the first edition. Autobiography of the author which Will Rogers called a "Cowboy's Bible" including his encounter with Billy The Kid. Reglued copy with pages uneven, spine is close to square, some very shallow bonding cracks still exist, page 147/148 is loose about 3/8th of an inch from lower spine, text seems reasonably solid, remains from pencil erasure on copyright page and the blank portion of page 148, no lamination, reading creases on both covers and spine, paint chipping along spine and cover edges, both covers are pulled back slightly from text block.
