The Bookshop on the Heath is one of South London's oldest independent second-hand bookshops. Formerly known as The Bookshop Blackheath and founded in 1949, since 2014 it has enjoyed significant new investment following a change of ownership. Our website can be found at www.bookshopontheheath.weebly.com and our current e-mail address is bookshopontheheath@gmail.com Our shop offers a whole range of exciting out-of-print titles in most subject areas, ranging from good second-hand reading copies to signed first editions and fine bindings. In fine weather you can browse through our outdoor trolleys of paperbacks; inside, we have an excellent selection of illustrated and collectable children s books, as well as a good range of crime and adventure novels, many rare art and design imprints, a good selection of vintage football programmes, military and general history, classic science fiction, poetry & plays, together with architecture, religious traditions and esoteric traditions such as Spiritualism and mediumship, Theosophy and Freemasonry. We also offer a range of posters, original paintings, maps, prints, vintage postcards and other ephemera. Our worldwide booksearch service is available to assist you in finding that elusive title! The Bookshop was judged to be one of Britain's top 50 bookshops by The Independent newspaper in 2008, being described as "An absolutely fabulous bookshop". Our shop was also chosen by Kudos Productions in 2008 for location filming of two episodes of the BBC's award-winning spy series "Spooks", and has featured in ITV's "House Gift" and a 2010 Vodafone advert. More recently, the Bookshop has featured in 'The Blackheath Séance Parlour' by local author Alan Williams, copies of which are available from the Bookshop. In 2014 we were a winner in Time Out magazine's 'best local shop' category, and are listed in the 2015 edition of Booklovers London.
