Pages clean, with no owners' marks, though gently toned throughout and chipped at the upper right corner of the page block; there are also some drip spots on the head edge of the page block, not affecting margins. Binding is modestly relaxed, but square and secure; full cloth cover bears three small, reddish stains at the middle front, a line of darkening at the right front, a line of yellowish staining along the spine and additional, comparable stains at the head edges of the boards, as well as spots of rub-through at the spine ends and corners, otherwise sound, with bright gilt titling at the spine and titles and illustration on the front. 399pp., illustrated.
