About this Item

Issue is original and complete. Very good with some wear to spine where disbound and minor soiling to cover toward bottom corner. Cover illustration by William H. Walker of Teddy Roosevelt instructing a groom to make an elephant (with spectacles like his) look good: "Make him as respectable looking as you can, Fairby, and I'll 'do the rest.'" Two more illustrations (pp. 402 and 403) by Bradford, one showing Teddy Roosevelt beating a frazzled-looking elephant with a big stick as it pulls a group of men (representing various trusts) in a cart with a sign "No Race Suicide!" The other shows Roosevelt with his big stick as a professor at "Big Stick University: G.O.P Preparatory School; Trust Magnates Made While You Wait." Various trusts (as professors) are carrying Uncle Sam (tarred and feathered) on a rail while singing, ".Tar and Feather him span and spick, rah for Teddy with the great big stick.".
