Later binding. Marbled paper over boards, backed in blue cloth, tiny gilt-stamped lettering on spine ("Tissages / Panckoucke / Paris 1786"); 4to (200x256mm); contains an assemblage of 59 plates (39 of them double-page) on weaving, likely from Charles-Joseph Panckoucke's "Encyclopédie Méthodique." Spine tips a little frayed; some light scuffing along edges of boards. A little marginal foxing here and there, but plates are very near fine overall. Charles-Joseph Panckoucke (26 November 1736 - 19 December 1798) was a French writer and publisher. He was responsible for numerous influential publications of the era, including the literary journal "Mercure de France" and the "Encyclopédie Méthodique," a successor to the Encyclopédie of Denis Diderot.
