About this Item

This 1965 atlas of Brookline properties showing their owners was done under the direction of John G. Carlson - Commissioner of Public Works. The atlas is complete with all 131 maps intact. It has a Title Page (with no publishing information), "Table of Dimensional Requirements" (zoning rules for each district), "Index Map of the Town of Brookline" that shows the 131 divisions by page number on an approximate scale of 1000' to 25/32 inches, Street Index (6 pages), 131 pages of maps. The individual maps are drawn to a scale of 100' per inch. The light green cardboard covers have some spotting and staining with light edge wear. It is well bound with a strong metal spiral binding. Some pages have light spotting or soiling. 6 or so pages have some ink notations or ink marks - mostly in the margins. 2 leaves - 17/18 and 19/20 are detached. 2 other leaves have a cigarette burn. One blank corner of about 2 inches in diameter is missing - else all the maps are complete and the vast majority are still very clean and are still crisp. The maps are simple black & white diagrams of the streets, lots, and building shapes on the lots. Each lot gives the owner's name. There is the name of a local library on the front cover in small letters. I don't think that this was in a library for there are no library acquisition or cataloguing information and nothing has been erased or removed. Bookseller Inventory # 10539
