September 1939 issue of Town and Country Magazine, featuring the original "Evangelist of Golf" article written by H.J. Whigham, the son-in-law of C.B. Macdonald. Whigham was at one time the editor of Town and Country and the article is a tribute to Macdonald and his vision of golf in America. Includes a nice picture of Whigham, Walter Trumbull (a sportswriter of the era) along with the architect and National Golf Links member John W. Cross. They are seated on a bench with Macdonald, who has a big grin on his face. They are pictured at a Coffee House 1927 Tournament. Back cover of the magazine is missing, otherwise in good condition. A unique and difficult to find article and magazine. We specialize in golf books. Bookseller Inventory #
