Trackside in search of Northern New England Steam with John T. Morrison by John R. Canfield. In the late 1940's it was readily apparent that steam was quickly being displaced by new diesels on the likes of &M, CV, MEC, Rutland Railroad, and BAR. John Morrison, George Diamond and several other notable photographers began a systematic quest to record the vanishing breed on color film, the results of which are shown in this book. There's early diesels, too! Contents: Boston & Maine: The Terminal Throat pg. 6; North Station pp. 7-25; Boston Engine Terminal pp. 26-36; Additional &M Action in MA, pp. 36-41; Hosting the Faithful (fan trip), pp. 50-55; Miscellanea pp. 56-57; Central Vermont: White River Junction, pp. 58-65; From the Canadian Border to the Atlantic Coast, pp. 66-80; A Close Look at New England's Heaviest (T3as), pg. 81; The Odyssey of Extra 470-North, pp. 82-84; Rutland Railroad: Switchers, pp. 86-88; Passenger Power, pp. 89-95; Freight Power, pp. 96-97; Changing of the Guard (diesels), pp. 98-99; MEC and BAR: The Mountain Sub, pp. 103-104; MEC Potpourri, pp. 105-109; BAR pp. 110-111; Canadian Roads, pp. 112-114; Danville Jct.
