8vo. Full calf with French label; raised bands and panels tooled with floral design; original spine laid down on matching polished calf. Collation: xvi, 232 pp. + 7 folding enbraved plates. Printer's device on title. Marble end papers. This is second issue of Lower's major advance in physiology of blood circulation since Harvey determined experimentally, with the assistance of Robert Hooke, that venous blood is changed to arterial blood in the lungs by virtue of its contact with air.
