This treatise analyzes benefit of inventory, a concept in Roman (and civil) law concerning an heir's right to commission a legally binding inventory of his ancestor's estate for representatives of the estate's creditors. It also concerns the right to limit debts and legacies to the amount of three fourths of an estate, thus preserving one fourth for the heir.
