About this Item

8vo. Original brown cloth with extensive elaborate pictorial giltstamping. 334pp. Numerous engravings, diagrams, maps. Good plus. Quite edgeworn and with front hinge cracked but still tight; text block mildly age toned, with foxing mainly to first few and last few pages. 19th century dentist's bookplate on front pastedown. Tight, decent first edition. Though worn and lacking the frontispiece, still fully handleable and with the extensive giltstamping still lovely. Uncommon. NEW HOWES P 349.
