Synopsis: This book is designed to help you increase your chances of winning a miniature horse liberty class. It will demonstrate training techniques, because a miniature horse needs to be trained for liberty just as for any other class. It will help you choose the correct miniature horse to show if you have more than one, since certain minis are going to be much better at it than others. It will teach you conditioning methods and grooming secrets that will help you win and will show you how to select just the right music. If you enjoy miniature horse liberty classes and want to be successful while still having a great time, then this book is for you!
About the Author:
Pat Elder got her first horse when she was twelve, a palomino and white paint named Coco. By sixteen, Pat was training professionally, starting 2-year-olds under saddle, retraining problem horses, and showing in halter and performance classes such as Western Pleasure, Showmanship, Trail, Reining, and Pleasure Driving.
She bought her first Miniature Horse as a pet in 1992, and quickly fell in love with the breed. Now, she owns Rosa Roca Training Stable in Oklahoma City and professional trains Miniature Horses and Shetland Ponies for halter and performance.
Although she shows a lot of horses in halter and driving, the liberty class has always been one of Pat's favorites. She has won many local and regional classes with horses she's trained. In 2007, Pat brought home a sixth from the AMHR Nationals in a class of 70 horses with Daystar's Just Enuf Chrome, a 30-inch stallion that she bred and then sold to Leesa Conley of Daystar Miniatures in Oklahoma City.
