Contemporary quarter calf, cloth sides, gilt spine; rubbed, corners showing, water-damage to top covers. Ownership rubber stamps (including on title of Vol. I). Good. FIRST EDITION. One of Antoine Becquerel's most important works, which summarized his researches into mineralogy, thermo-electricity, and the synthesis of mineral substances. Antoine-Cesar Becquerel was elected to the Academie des Sciences in 1829 and was awarded the Copley Medal of the Royal Society of London in 1837.
