Clark 157. "The tolerant John Lambert came to North America from England in order `to explore those parts which have been rendered interesting by the glories of a Wolfe and a Washington.' He proposed to write a book about Canada and the United States which would `remove the veil of unjust prejudice and the gloss of flattery'"-Clark. "The sketches of society in Quebec and Montreal are written with much humor; the descriptive portions are well done, and much important information is given on trade, ship-building and manufactures"-Larned 3732. Lambert also offers an account of his visit to Charleston and Savannah in 1808. The views include Quebec, Gen. Burgoyne's camp at Saratoga, Indians, Plymouth, Massachusetts, etc. The folding map shows the eastern seaboard and Canada. Bookseller Inventory # 648
