About this Item

Pp. xxii, 490 (+ interleaves for first section); 558 text-figures (mostly fine photos or halftones). Early tan cloth, lettered in black on the spine, lg 8vo (10 1/4 x 7 inches). This is a specially bound copy with the first 127 pages with occasional blank interleaves. This copy is from the library of paleontologist Arthur K. Miller, with his signature on the front endpaper and his name at the base of the spine. Miller is the author of the ammonoid section of this volume of the 'Treatise.' His pencil notes appear on some of the interleaves. Miller must have been revising his section for the publication of the second edition which appears in 1996. Occasional handwritten notes by Miller on pieces of paper have also been laid in throughout the volume. An unusual association copy of the first edition. Some soiling to the tan cloth, likely from being handled frequently, with the text bright and clean; overall a tight copy in near fine condition. Bookseller Inventory # 5363
