Book Description London, Dawsons of Pall Mall, 1962. NORMAN 137 (zur EA): Battie introduced an number of innovations to psychiatry: he was the first in England to teach the subject as a medical speciality; he used new neuro-physiological concepts (such as Haller‘s irritability) in an attempt to explain the phenomena of mental illness; he originated the useful distinction between "original " (functional) and "consequential" (organic) madness; and he recognised (contrary to contemporary opinion) that mental patients often recovered spontaneously without physical treatment, or when such treatment was stopped. Sprache: Deutsch Gewicht in Gramm: 462 23 x 15cm, Originalleinwand, rotes Rückenschild, ill. Schutzumschlag, Frontispiez mit Abb. von St. Luke`s und Bethlem Hospital; 23 S. Einführung, VII, 99 S. (Battie), 1 weißes Bl., 2 Bl., 60 S. (Monro). Seller Inventory # 4656
