About this Item

A nice little book, (30 pp.) about the famous hunting lodge in Kenya, describing scenes witnessed by the then Princess Elizabeth and Philip during their visit. The author of "Man-Eaters of Kumaon", Colonel Corbett was concerned with photography rather than shooting/hunting, and was a great lover of animals. There are numerous small black and white ink vignettes of animals by the illustrator, Raymond Sheppard, in the margins. This book, published posthumously in England, shows his skill as a story-teller. There is scattered foxing on the endpapers, and sprayed across the front cover of the volume there are tiny, light spots. A previous owner's name on the FFEP. and also an inscription. A letter from the Outspan Hotel in Kenya is laid in. The pictorial dust-jacket has light soil and an ink X on the rear . Size: 5 1/4" x 8". Bookseller Inventory # 000777
