Publication Date: 1814
KERR, JACOB. The Several Trials of the Reverend David Barclay, before the Presbytery of New-Brunswick, with their Judgment at Oxford. An Appeal . Remanded.at Hackettstown: and a Vote of Censure on Jacob Kerr, one of the Complainants. Elizabeth-Town: For the author, by R. and P. Canfield, 1814. , 404 p. Later half leather, red and black leather spine labels. Usual scattered foxing, but a very good copy. Much ado about the conduct of David Barclay, a Sussex (now Warren) County minister--a tangled web of allegations, counter-charges, etc. "He was ketched with Mrs. Cain by the board fence, and he had to do with her and I can prove it." And so on. After a remarkable series of trial and exonerations, Barclay moved west to Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, and in 1820 he and his son-in-law laid out the town of Punxatawny.
