1st. edition, fine in red boards with silver printing on the spine. Lightly foxed page edges and endpapers, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper. Red and black with white background pictorial dust jacket is soiled, foxed and has light edge wear. Nathaniel Barksdale Dial's lifetime spanned the post Civil War era to the post World War I era, a period of depravation and dramatic changes in his native South. This is his biography written candidly by his daughter. Following the motto of General Wade Hampton, Senator Dial staunchly adhered to his principles, doggedly remaining "true to his colors".
