Book Description Alatas, Southbury, CN, 1940. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. First Edition. On the front endpaper the author has penned a passage from p. 384 of the book, below which he has inscribed, "To one of those genuine Americans, the hero who knows the price of trouble--and whom I heard and saw in person [illegible initial]. D. Rcihardson with respect and admiration" and signed and dated (May 1, 1950, Florida Southern College) by the author. An unnumbered copy of 1,800 printed. Good+ in a Poor dust jacket. Green cloth boards are largely in nice shape, however with some superficial scratches to both front and rear covers. Binding is solid and secure, though there are a series of several very short and narrow splits at the front gutter. Mild browning to page margins. The jacket which is now protected in mylar, is essentially complete, but has some edge-tears, including a very lengthy one that cuts across most of the front panel. Dj also has several creases and some chipping. Signed by Author. Bookseller Inventory # 40370
