About this title

"Some time in the past I ran across a quotation that goes like this: 'How can you soar with eagles when you have to deal with so many turkeys?" "I'm no sure those are the exact words, but they are close enough to emphasize my point: It's nice to associate with the rich and famous, especially if some of it rubs off on you, but when you are flirting around with your family tree, you're going to find a few turkeys. "In case you hadn't thought about it, every time you go back a generation, you double your ancestors-two parents, four grandparents, eight grandparents, etc. Go back eight or 10 generations, and you've got a passel of 'em. All kinds. Turkeys, eagles, saints, sinners, great and not so great. I'm here to tell you bout my family tree. I've been climbing around in it-I should say digging-for some time, and I've found a bunch of 'em. All kinds. You name 'em. But I'm not going to tell you Great-great-grandfather Whatshisname was a great man, or that some other great-great-ancestor was a bum. I'll try to deal with facts, and, perhaps, explain some legend, merely to give you an idea of who my ancestors were. At least, as far as I determined. Now and then, when I can't find enough facts, I'll do a little speculating. When I do, I'll let you know.

Store Description

The Reader's Corner is such fun,it's too bad you have to buy our books on line. We have eight foot tall outside bookshelves across the entire front of the store. There is a money slot in the door for night sales, which go to support National Public Radio. Inside, which can be too crowded at times, are surprisingly good books, only 1% are ever listed on-line. We also sell records, music cd's, comic books, mags, computer software and games. Best of all is the found art decorating every spare spot. The motto on the front door: NO SHOOTING, NO SMOKING, NO MOONING THE MANAGEMENT.
