About this title

Synopsis:

In the 60's rebellious teenagers were often threatened with being locked up in the loony bin, if they didn't straighten out. When I was 14 the threat became my reality after losing my innocence to a brutal rapist. In the depths of despair, I turned to the Bible and prayed for a miracle. I am convinced that God looked down at this pitiful child and sent an angel of mercy to rescue me from my hell. This is the story of my 6 months stay in the Hudson River State Hospital, the infamous (Poughkeepsie) during the time when insane asylums were as depicted in movies such as "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." It is also the story of the student nurse who taught me love and respect for not just others but more importantly my self. She took this wounded bird and taught her how to fly.

About the Author:

As an accomplished Road Scholar, Kathy Hiatt began her travels at 9 years old walking the streets of Miami. She settled down long enough to put herself through college where she received a degree in Business with a major in English in 1981. Currently, Kathy is living in Florida with her granddaughter, who is a full time student at SPC, earning her teaching degree. Together they are the humans of their beautiful Pekingese/Lab, Bella. A self proclaimed, non-traditional Christian vagabond, born in NYC on February 14, 1950, Kathy blissfully shares her belief that the Bible's main message is Love. Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.
