4to. Unpaginated. Beveled cloth binding, embossed and stamped in gold, green and black ornate design and small, circular image of Jesus in center. Head and tail of spine slightly bumped and rubbed. Corners rubbed and slightly frayed. Minor scuffing to boards. All gilt edges. Gross grain endpapers. Plates are on heavy card stock with illustration and the following illumination matted inside of each, matting is beveled, a.e.g.Twelve full-color chromolithographs matted on recto, with full color illuminations on the verso of each plate. Lushly illustrated and illuminated in rich colors, beautifully produced with high quality matting. The particularly beautiful frontispiece is from a picture by John Jellicoe. The twelve illustrations are from sketches by H.R. McEniry, the illuminated borders are from the Brevario Grimani, in St. Mark's Library, Venice, and the illuminated texts and title page are designed by Lewis Hind. Each of the twelve illustrations has off-setting around the matting from the illumination on the verso, not affecting the images. Very good condition. Seller Inventory # 7605
