Two manuscript documents, signed in Lycoming County, Pa and dated November 1858. First a completed and signed legal plea (7 1/4 x 12 1/4 inch) Second a true copy of the note in Gamble's hand and signed by him (5 1/2 x 7 3/4 inch). James Gamble (1809-1883) served as a Representative (Democrat) from Pennsylvania in the House of Representatives during 1851-55. He also worked as a lawyer and judge in Lycoming County, Pa and held a number of local and state elected offices. In the first document, in which Gamble is representing William Maginnes versus John Schwer, Gamble presents as a true copy a note in which Schwer promises to pay Maginnes $200.00 (Williamsport, 1857). In the second document, Gamble asks the Court of Common Pleas of Lycoming County to force payment from Schwer. Fine clean copies. Bookseller Inventory #
