"In order to record the existing religious customs of the Mam Indians of Guatemala, the author spent two years in the remote village of Todos Santos, high in the Cuchumatan Mountains. Here the original Mayan calendar survives, and the Indians of the community still sacrifice, as did their Mayan ancestors, to the ancient gods upon the mountain tops." Cloth lightly rubbed, moderately heavy foxing to title-page and frontispiece, edges darkened, otherwise a tight, clean, VG + copy in defective dust jacket (dust jacket has numerous significant chips and tears) very good - condition, significant wear and soiling to dust jacket, top and bottom sections missing from jacket front and back, price clipped, slight foxing to page edges and title page.
