About this Item

Ex-lib with a flexible board library cover over the original paper one. The is a Atlanta Carnegie Libray bookplate on the inside front of the library binding and a card pocket on the inside back. The cover is attached to the spine with cloth tap and lettered by hand. The only library markings on the book itself is a small Carnegie Library stamp on the title page, and a stamp and 3 small pencil notations on the back of the tile page and the Forward page. It might be possible to remove the library binding. The paper wraps are very lightly soiled on the back and the edges are dusty. One corner of the back cover is creases. The shadows on the book are from the scanner. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 120 pages; Ralph McGill of the Atlanta Constitution traveled to Scandinavia in 1937 on a Rosenwald fellowship to study farm marketing and rural schools. Thomas C. David went to Denmark to study agriculture there and the two men wrote up their experiences with an eye toward how Georgia's education, especially in rural areas, could be improved. The result was published by the Georgia Department of Education in 1938 as part of the Georgia Program for the Improvement of Instruction in the Public Schools. The men seem to have been impressed with Scandinavia, especially in contrast to the condition of Georgia education and agriculture during the Depression. Bookseller Inventory # 7450
