Offered together are two versions of this key Treaty, one prior to ratification (Cmd. 3627, 1930), the other ratified in Baghdad on 26 Jan 1931 (Cmd. 3797, 1931) with additional Notes. Self-wraps 15x25cm, 11, 16pp English text. Very good with small Admiralty ink stamp (dated 17 Mar 1931) to the front of the ratified version. The Treaty was signed by Iraqi Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Noury (Nuri) Said for King Faisal, and High Commissioner F.H. Humphrys for King George V. It opens by reasserting Britain's commitment to help Iraq's admission into the League of Nations, thereby bringing the 25 year Mandate to an earlier close. The terms commit to perpetual peace; diplomatic representation; the settlement of disputes etc. Though the main thrust of the agreement is to grant the British use of Iraqi rail, rivers, ports, aerodromes and means of communication in the event of war; and for the British to establish airbases at Basra and elsewhere to help defend Iraq against external threats. Annexures elaborate on this, addressing the strength of British forces at Hinaidi and Mosul; their freedom from taxation; Iraqi provision of special guards for the airbases; British provision of training, officers, and materiel; Iraqi provision of facilities for the movement of British forces and arms, etc. The ratified version includes additional 4pp "Notes exchanged with the Iraq Prime Minister embodying the separate agreement on financial questions referred to in the second exchange of Notes appended to the Anglo-Iraq Treaty of 30th June, 1930" dated 19 Aug 1930.…

DELIVERY DEADLINES: If you have a hard deadline for receipt that is before the processing time stated on Abe, eg, if you need it to arrive urgently before you travel or before a particular event, please contact me at the time of order to advise, so options can be discussed and steps taken to ensure it gets there in time.
RETURNS: Please return any items for refund within 30 days of the estimated delivery date, and contact me first with the reason for the return to establish whether postal costs will be included in the refund. If the item is not as described, I will cover the original and return post.
