first edition; no dj as issued; from the library of the linguist Glenn Gilbert with his bookplate laid in, bookseller's pencilled price notation on the ffep and invoice laid in, covers rubbed and somewhat soiled, several brown spots on the back cover, the largest is ca 1.5 x 4 cm, edges rubbed, heel of spine bumped, some sun-darkening of the spine, water damage on the bottom and top, extending several centimeters away from the edges, binding and endpapers still sound, overall rating Fair+; the book is bound in green boards with gold lettering stamped on the spine, apple & leaf decoration on the front; 12mo -- 19 centimeters tall, 431 numbered pages + 6 pages of ads. A number of the books are valuable and hard to find, as for example a 1/2-leather-bound first edition of Alfred Russell Wallace's The Malay Archipelago (2 vols.), recently sold for presentation to the Mayor of London on his visit to Malaysia, and a first edition of H. G. Wells' The Time Machine, a novel of the 19th century pointing to a scary future, a continuing revelation to me. Triple G Books stands back of its books in every way.
