About this Item

There's no mistaking this master of crime fiction with the Continental Congressman and the Civil War general of the same name; King cranked out his first whodunit, "Murder De Luxe," in 1927 and continued prolifically until "The Faces of Danger" in 1964. TNS, 1p, 8½" X 11", Rouses Point, New York, 1931 August 23. Addressed to H.D. Trevillion (an Illinois small press publisher). Very good. Faintly age toned. King graciously agrees to sign a copy of his then-latest novel, "Murder in the Willett Family" and chats: "I'm leaving, unfortunately, immediately for the coast, to do a picture in Hollywood ---- have just returned from London." Large signature. Whether King did as Faulkner and Fitzgerald and turned to writing motion picture screenplays for quick cash is not known. With original envelope. Bookseller Inventory # 40371
