Book Description Pictorial Bureau Washington DC, 1928. Hardcover. Book Condition: Fair. No Jacket. History. The book has a brown and green embossed cover which looks good, however there is tape holding the spine together. The spine is separated in many places, name and name stamp on front paste down and free endpaper, a number of pages are separating from the book. However, the pages and the photographs are clean, flat and un-damaged. The first section is entitled U.S. Official Pictures of the World War showing America's Participation Selected from the Official Files of the War Department with unofficial Introductory Photographs and goes from page 1 to 576 ending with the final report of Gen. John J Pershing dated Sept. 1, 1919 (this report is not paged). The next section is entitled New York Troops in the World War (11th Engineers, 165th Infantry, 27th Division, 77th Division, 369th Infantry), and is paged Roman Numerally from I to LXIV; then comes Out of the West paged I to XVI. The next section is The United States Navy in the World War Official Pictures and is dated 1921 and paged from 1 to 320. This makes a total of about 976 total pages. A wonderful surviving copy of this hard to find book! The book is very heavy and may require extra postage. Proceeds from the sale of this book benefit environmental restoration and education. All bindings are square and secure; covers show chipping or spots of rub-through at spine ends and board corners, some darkening along the foreedges and at the spine, lines of surface wear along the sides of the spines and along the edges of the marbled paper portions; the first volume shows some surface wear at left and right front, some sunning at the left front, and a small, open surface tear and light scratches to the marbled paper; the final volume shows some open chipping to the paper portion of the front foreedge; otherwise sound and attractive.
