Good/very good-dark blue boards embossed with USS MISSOURI and gold Surrender emblem on front cover. Light shelf wear to top and btm of spine and to btm of board edges, Former owners name and small brown mark from 50mm paper clip on inside frontpage. Light foxing to pages. Spine is complete. Binding is tight-no loose pages. 120 pages with b/w photos throughout. Endpapers complete: shows photo of USS Missouri firing bow guns and 6 shells flying. This is the last Battleship commissioned by the United States and today is a museum ship at Pearl Harbor near the USS Arizona and Her memorial. This log covers the christening by sponsor Mary Margaret Truman and launching 29 Jan. 1944 into the East River from the Brooklyn Navy Yard to the on board Christmas party Dec. 1945 at Navy Yard New York. USS Missouri is famous as the site of the Jananese surrender 2 Sept 1945 in Toyko Bay. Many photos of the event are included. There are many photos of commanding officers, executive officers and group photos of the crew BUT does not contain names or photos of individual crew members.
