8vo: [8], 362pp, with 21 full-page illustrations (included in the pagination) and numerous smaller illustrations in the text by Jean de Bosschere. Publisher's maroon cloth, spine ruled and lettered in gilt, upper cover framed in blind. About Fine (gilt a bit dulled), a tight, bright copy. Bleiler, Checklist of Supernatural Fiction, p. 180. Collects a novel, "The Flaw in the Crystal," and six short stories. Often-praised compendium of supernatural fiction with Freudian undercurrents. As well as having written some two dozen novels, Sinclair was a respected critic, credited with first using the term "stream of consciousness" in a literary context. She wrote some of the first criticism on the poets H. D., Ezra Pound, and T. S. Eliot. Apropos of Uncanny Stories, she was a member of the Society for Psychical Research. N. B.
