Item description from seller

Vintage book by a textbook author who maintained gender distinctions. Laura D. Nichols describes children's methods of outdoor exploration: "If Nelly went alone, she did not wander very far, for she was a timid child, and liked to be within easy distance of home and familiar faces; but if Harry were with her they would explore all sorts of places and get twice as many flowers, because he did not mind scratches or tumbles, mud or briars, in securing anything to which he took a fancy." Spine is cracked, corners chipped, rubbing to the boards. Internally clean, binding is holding well.
