Norwegian language. Bound in 3/4 marbled boards and black cloth; the spine has the remnant of a label present. No additional printings. The first edition of Munch's eighth book. With eight full-page color lithographs. 210 pages plus 2 pages of contents. This copy was gifted by Norwegian-American scholar Rasmus B. Anderson to his son-in-law Julius Olson (with Anderson's initials as part of the inscription). Also present is the I. T. Relling & Co. bookseller sticker (Chicago). The boards show moderate edgewear and rubbing, with the cloth spine showing a crease in the center. Front hinge a bit open on the lower half; binding square. Paper lightly toned, more so on the title page than elsewhere. Besides being an early copy of Munch's work, this is also a very early example of a book published by Cappelen's with color plates.
