Green w/pasted paper label to slightly darkened spine. Minor wear head and heel of spine, very light fray, corners very slightly rubbed. Titles have faded completely from label and Vol I's label is chipped, scuffed and slight ly soiled . Top edge gilt. Lovely rough cut edges. Sadly, these books have been remainder marked with a red marker, top and bottom outside edges. Does not affect text. Lovely two-color title pages. Illustrated with beautiful photogravures on Japan vellum, etchings hand painted India-plate reproductions,each with labeled tissue guards. Frontis and one other illustration per book. Text is clean and tight, no marks, lightly and evenly toned. From Ajaccio to Waterloo, as soldier, Emperor, husband . With introduction by S.M. Hamilton. Other books in this series may be available.
