About this Item

Jacket protected in mylar cover. 250 very clean and tight pages. Bottom corners bumped. Several small tears on the bottom of the jacket. The battle of Metz in the autumn of 1944 was the last time in the history of modern warfare when supposedly outdated fortresses, built nearly a half century earlier, were able to play a decisive role. Impervious to heavy artillery and air bombardment, they enabled a weak but die-hard German force to resist, and, for a time stop powerful American forces who had sliced across France. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Bookseller Inventory # 003691
