About this Item

Full cloth covers, dark blue. Gilt lettering and decorations on front cover and spine are bright. Edges show wear; three corners worn to the boards, but not catastrophically. Some fraying at top of spine. Page edges mottled, discolored. This book was originally published by Nichols in Massachusetts but W.C. Teeter in Dayton, Ohio, is listed as publisher in this book. (The Dec. 6,1890 Piqua Caller newspaper in Ohio says Teeter was a manager for the publisher and had an office in Dayton.) The original title page was neatly clipped out and the Teeter title page glued in on the small strip remaining. 960 pages. Illustrations of various authors involved, in an anthology on the subject. Pages 271-274 are loose, but present; otherwise, the binding is tight and square. Bookseller Inventory # 7178
