Pirated Bruxelles edition, published one year before the Paris "edition originale" in 1842 and based on the text published in "Le Messager" between August 25 and September 23, 1841. The text of the present edition differs in many parts from the "edition originale", since Balzac added a lot of changes to the approved first edition published by Souverain. Some browning throughout.
