Translation of De líusage des passions, the best-known work of Jean-Francois Senault (1599-1672), a French Augustinian philosopher. The title-page is a cancel, with horizontal chainlines; leaves b7 & b8 signed A3 and A4 respectively. Wing S2505. Ownership signatures of John Troy, dated 1672 and 1674, to back of the frontispiece and free endpaper verso; ownership signature of Thos. Parker dated 1697 to front pastedown. Joints cracked, spine worn and cracked vertically with cords barely holding; contents very good. Second edition in English, but the first of this translation. Bookseller Inventory # 6019
