The first translation of the New Testament into Saglla. While the verso of the title-page confusingly states this to be "The New Testament in Kisagalla, a new [sic] translation," the authoritative Scriptures of the World makes it clear that this is the => first translation. The translator was Matthew Gae, an Anglican. Kisagala, also known as Kisagalla, Sagala, Sagalla, Saghala, or Teri is the dominant language of Taita-Taveta county in the Taita hills, about midway between the towns of Mwatate and Rukanga in Kenya. It is a Niger-Kordofanian language. The first translation of any part of the Bible into Sagalla came in 1892; a translation of the Gospels followed in 1912. In addition to the main text this volume has a preface, an index, inter-Gospel references, illustrations, a glossary, and maps.
