viii, 528 pages. Hardcover: H 19cm x L 12cm. Original brown cloth rubbed with some staining, long tearing and some cloth loss at spine heel with shorter tears at head, board corners worn. Edges toned. Varied foxing, soiling, and some staining to leaves; top half of last Index leaf (pages 527-528) missing; several other less significant page chips; past owner's pencil inscription dated 1853 on frontispiece's blank recto; math calculation in antiquarian ink on rear free endpaper. Binding has several stress points with several quires slightly pulled but, overall, still reasonably firm. Frontispiece b/w plate retains tissue guard sheet. Only a fair copy at best. But book's front free endpaper is embellished with scarce antebellum black ink oval bookseller stamp for John B. Clark of Eutaw, Alabama. Bookseller Inventory #
