Almost no wear to extremities, covers very lightly soiled, slight wrinkle to paper on front cover (about thumb-sized), else very good to near fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket probably as issued. Edward Tyler wrote several books of poetry on various subjects. Gillian Tyler grew up in an artistic family, but did not expect to be an artist as a vocation. While at Smith College, she became interested in art through Leonard Baskin. With his encouragement she continued her study at Brooklyn Museum School and Kunst Academie in Hamburg, Germany. After returning to the United States she settled in the small town of Thetford, Vermont, where she owned and operated a limited edition press using old fashioned wood carving methods. Her extremely detailed images were used to illustrate a large library of books as well as for visual interpretations of poems and tales. In 1989 she began work in oil and watercolor under another well know artist Donald Stone and has since become known for her peaceful and colorful watercolors and oils. The wood engravings in this limited edition are a good example of her early work in wood engravings. Bookseller Inventory # 006250
