Book Description OUP Pakistan, Karachi, 2006. Hardcover. Book Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Hardcover, xxxviii + 522pp, NOT ex-library. Blue paper used for endpapers and boards is of crinkly quality; there is also a hint of wrinkling to pages (not moisture-damage). Interior untanned, mostly clean (showing small grubby marks here and there, few faint offset and dusty marks), unmarked text: no writing, no highlighting of any kind. Several creased corners and a few gently creased edges throughout the book. Good secure binding. Age-toned and slightly dusty outer page edges with faint grubby marks. Boards appear mildly bowed with scuffed edges, faint marks, creasing along the spine and to spine ends; non-sticky glue residue on front panel (manufacturing flaw). Dust jacket shows shelfworn marks and scratches, creasing and a bit of scuffing to edges, sunning to flap edges; front panel with a couple of small brown grubby marks and one small nick/tear to bottom outer corner. -- The challenge of improving livelihoods in the remote mountains of northern Pakistan provides the backdrop for a series of reflective studies about social and rural development, featuring the analyses of multi-dimensional poverty, gender, microfinance, collective action and institutional options for natural resource management.
