About this title

Synopsis:

Western Riverside County, California, supports a diverse and interesting flower with over 1,300 taxa of vascular plants. For the first time, all native and naturalized plants known to be documented within this region are found in a single reference. Each species include common name, status, abundance, and distribution information. The book is also includes three appendices (excluded taxa, rare plants, and a detailed nomenclatureal cross-reference with author commentary), two reference maps, and line drawing illustrations of 33 species.

About the Author:

Roberts, White, Sanders, Bramlet, and Boyd are botanists who have worked with southern California plants, their identification and documentation for over 20 years. Steve Boyd is the curator of the herbarium Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden at Claremont, California, and Andrew Sanders is the curator of the herbarium at the University of California, Riverside. Dave Bramlet, and Scott White have specialized in rare plant surveys and general botany in western Riverside County and other areas of southern California. Fred Roberts was the assistant curator for the Museum of Systematic Biology at the University of California, Irvine, until it was effectively shut down in 1991, and later a botanist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. All five authors are known for their knowledge of southern California plants, and their opinions sought after for many purposes.
