A short piece advocating meditation and prayer as a way to incorporate the restorative powers of sleep into the waking life, discussing planes of consciousness, perception and memory, as well as sleep. Vedanta is a branch of Hindu philosophy, drawing on yoga practice among other Hindu teachings. Sister Devamata was the first American disciple of Swami Paramananda, an Indian mystic who moved to the United States to become one of the first to teach Vedanta thought. GOOD condition. Large dark dampstain affecting the rear cover and last leaf of the text. Some browning and staining along the front cover edges. Vertical crease present, with some other minor creasing.
