Octavo (9 1/2 x 5 7/8 in; 242 x 149 mm). [2], 254 pp. Twenty-four hand-colored aquatint plates. Publisher's original blindstamped cloth with gilt lettered and decorated spine. Top edge gilt. With the bookplate of F. Reddaway. Neat inked signature to front free endpaper. Small dark spot to lower board, mild offsets from engravings, otherwise internally fresh, crisp, and clean. A fine, gilt-bright and tight copy. Housed in a later cloth drop-front box.The Vicar of Wakefield was written in 1761 and 1762, published in 1766, and was one of the most popular and widely read 18th-century novels among Victorians.
