23.5 x 16.5 cm. 160 full-page chromolithograph plates with tissue guards. Vick, born in England landed first in New York where he learned the printing trade, then removed to Rochester in 1837. His interest in flowers led him to contribute articles to the "Genesee Farmer," and in 1850 he edited the periodical. His growing interest in gardening prompted entry into the commercial seed business, and his "Floral Guide," later expanded to his "Monthly Magazine" in January 1878. This popular gardening and horticultural publication had several feature articles on gardening topics, written in a popular style, well illustrated with engravings, and in the late 1880's with photographs. A fresh and very clean set in High Victorian Design, front cover decorated in black, spine lettered in gilt, decorated in black. Orig. decorated green cloth. Fine. 13 vols.
